Verbaloom is a free, straightforward proofreading workspace for checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, and phrasing. It helps you review your writing and make changes one suggestion at a time.

How the checker works

When you choose online checking, your text is submitted to LanguageTool, a third-party proofreading provider, for analysis. The free public service may limit requests or be temporarily unavailable. For English, Verbaloom also includes a more limited local rule-based checker that runs entirely in your browser.

Our approach

No sign-up is required. You can paste or type text, inspect individual suggestions, undo fixes, and download your edited writing as a plain-text file. Automated suggestions can sometimes be wrong, so you should always review them.
